Yong Zhang is a Partner and co-Director of the Tax practice at Rogers & Company. He has approximately 20 years of experience providing tax, compliance, and consulting services to nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Yong worked as the Tax Senior Director in the Exempt Organizations Tax Practice at RSM US LLP in Washington, DC. Yong oversees the firm’s tax compliance practice, including the preparation and review of tax returns, as well as providing quality assurance oversight. He has provided a wide array of business advisory services to associations, foundations, and other exempt organizations.
His extensive involvement with tax-exempt entities equips our clients with invaluable insights into matters encompassing tax adherence and strategy, structural planning for transactions, considerations regarding Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT), lobbying and political endeavors, fundraising and solicitations, and other intricate spheres impacting nonprofit organizations. He has supported clients in IRS audits, establishment of organizational frameworks, and the operational procedures of private foundations. Yong has also delivered presentations to the leadership of numerous associations and nonprofit entities, covering a diverse range of tax subjects including UBIT, intermediate sanctions, private letter rulings, supporting organizations, public support criteria, reorganizations, and expense allocations.
Yong is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia and Tennessee, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Greater Washington Society of CPAs. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with an MBA and an M.S. in Computer Software Engineering. He is currently enrolled in the Juris Doctor Program at University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law.
