His proficiency extends to navigating the intricacies of auditing procedures and compliance requirements pertinent to financial statement audits for nonprofits, including Uniform Guidance and federal regulations. Steve’s experience includes overseeing a multitude of audits and advisory projects for nonprofit entities, as well as agreed-upon procedures, reviews, benefit plan audits, internal control assessments, grant audits, and consultation on governance matters. Throughout his career, Steve has garnered a reputation for delivering exceptional client service marked by accessibility, responsiveness, and unwavering commitment to quality.
Prior to joining our firm, Steve’s career included senior management roles at international CPA firms, including within the nonprofit services groups at RSM LLP and Grant Thornton LLP. Steve holds a B.B.A. and M.S. in Accounting from James Madison University, and he is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Maryland. He is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs. Also, Steve has conducted courses and instructional sessions for GWSCPA and other organizations, focusing on areas such as nonprofit financial accounting, governance, and operational excellence. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Greater DC Diaper Bank, and serves in other volunteer and leadership roles within the firm.
